In physics, a quantum is the minimum amount of any physical entity involved in an interaction and for this reason indivisible. Music, as a quantum, is the essence that brings this trio together.

The Quantum Clarinet Trio, whose performances maintain “radiance and tension[…]from the first to the last note” (Remy Franck, Pizzicato Magazine) has established itself as a leading clarinet trio of its generation. Founded in 2019, the three musicians with paths through prestigious institutions in France, Austria, Germany and South Korea comprise an ensemble whose “interplay is perfectly coordinated” (Imke Griebsch, RBB, transl.). Shortly after their formation, they captured the international spotlight by winning third prize at the renowned Fischoff Chamber Music Competition in the United States.

One of their 2026/27 season highlights will be a performance at Salle Cortot in Paris in January 2027. 

Their debut CD, featuring works by Brahms, Kahn, and Frühling, was released in autumn 2023 in co-production with Deutschlandfunk Kultur on the label Hänssler Classic. The album received numerous enthusiastic accolades from the press, including 5 star reviews in the Pizzicato Magazine and Fono Forum, as well as radio broadcasts on Ö1 and Bremen 2, among others. They also appeared on the “Generations France Musique - Le live” radio show in Paris. Their CD was selected by Charlotte Gardner as her “Classical Choice” for January 2024 in her dCS column, and they were nominated for an Opus Klassik award for 'Best Chamber Music Recording 2024.'

Regular performers on the European chamber music scene, the Quantum Clarinet Trio’s highlight appearances include concerts at Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Società del Quartetto di Bergamo, Oxford's Jacqueline du Pré Music Building, and Aldeburgh’s Jubilee Hall.

As one of very few ensembles with their setup, the trio is committed to bringing both classic masterpieces and rediscovered musical treasures to their audiences, while also highlighting contemporary music.

A testament to this artistic drive was their world premiere of Unintended Consequences (Modena, 2024), dedicated to them and written by Stefano Seghedoni and Moon Unit Zappa.

Alumni of the European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA), they have received mentorship from legendary chamber musicians such as Hatto Beyerle, Johannes Meissl, Patrick Jüdt, and Kathryn Stott. Passionate about passing on their knowledge, the trio has shared their expertise with the next generation of artists through chamber music masterclasses at the University of Oxford.

The Quantum Clarinet Trio was Artist in Residence at the Britten Pears Arts Program in the UK (2025) and was supported by the Commissioner for Culture and Media of the Federal Republic of Germany and the “Neustart Kultur” program.

In 2026 they were selected as Pro Musici Artists and they continue to receive the generous support of the Académie Musicale de Villecroze. 

In October 2026 they welcomed internationally acclaimed clarinetist Ann Lepage into their ensemble.
